Community Educator – Academic Year

Girls Inc. of Worcester is seeking a Community Educator to implement and co-facilitate school- and community-based programming through our Girls Promoting Safety (GPS) and Girls Unified (GU) initiatives. This role focuses on direct program delivery, relationship-building with school and community partners, and program preparation to ensure high-quality, trauma-informed, and youth-centered experiences for participants.

The Community Educator works collaboratively with internal staff, external community partners, school administrators, and teachers to deliver consistent, engaging programming aligned with grant goals and Girls Inc. values. This is a part-time, grant-funded role, the Community Educator plays a critical role in connecting teens to career pathways, wellness support, and community resources while maintaining a safe, empowering, and youth-centered program environment.

Responsibilities: 

Program Implementation & Facilitation

  • Facilitate and co-facilitate GPS and Girls Unified programming at assigned school and community sites.
  • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for youth participants.
  • Deliver programming focused on leadership development, identity exploration, life skills, wellness, and community engagement.
  • Support youth engagement, group management, transitions, and positive behavior guidance.
  • Adapt lesson plans as needed to meet youth needs while maintaining fidelity to grant goals.

Partner & School Coordination

  • Work collaboratively alongside facilitators from YMCA, YWCA, and other partner organizations.
  • Coordinate directly with school administrators, teachers, and site contacts to support scheduling, communication, and program logistics.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships that support consistent program delivery.
  • Communicate schedule changes, concerns, or site needs promptly to supervisors.

Program Preparation & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials, lesson plans, and supplies for weekly programming.
  • Track attendance and complete required data entry aligned with organizational and grant requirements.
  • Support documentation needs including reflections, incident reports, and funder reporting support.
  • Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and planning sessions.
  • Support program setup, breakdown, and light space upkeep as needed.

Professional Conduct & Communication

  • Communicate promptly and professionally with supervisors regarding program updates, challenges, or successes.
  • Uphold Girls Inc. of Worcester policies, values, and trauma-informed practices at all times.
  • Represent Girls Inc. positively at partner sites and within the community.

Physical Requirements

  • Walk up to two miles daily for participant pickup/dismissal or transitions.
  • Safely lift and carry up to 25 lbs. for program setup, supplies, and event materials.
Work Schedule: 

Position Schedule & Flexibility

This part-time position requires a 20-28 hour workweek, with flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend programming. This is a 10-month role only active during academic school year

Work Schedule:

Monday: 1:00 PM-5:00 PM Traveling to and from Spencer, MA

Tuesday: 7:30 AM-3:00 PM*

Wednesday: 11:00 AM-3:00 PM

Thursday: 8:30 AM-4:00 PM*

Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM*

*= including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Qualifications: 
  • At least 21 years old with a high school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in human services, education, social work, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with youth in group or supportive service settings; experience with teens (ages 11–17) strongly preferred.
  • Experience or interest in case management, youth advocacy, or referral coordination.
  • Strong facilitation, organization, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to youth development, equity, trauma-informed practice, and social justice.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting (fingerprinting cost paid by applicant $30-$50).
  • Ability to travel locally to partner sites and events.
  • Bilingual or multilingual applicants strongly encouraged to apply.
Salary and Application Information: 

Job Type: Part-Time
Pay Rate: $18.00-21.00/Hour dependent on experience
