Facilities Specialist

Girls Inc. of Worcester is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Facilities Specialist to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all staff, participants, and visitors. This evening role is essential in supporting the overall upkeep and operation of our building, including cleaning, light repairs, maintenance tasks, and deep cleaning of program and administrative spaces. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, works well independently, and has a strong sense of ownership over the care of our facility. 

Responsibilities: 

Cleaning & Housekeeping 

  • Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, bathrooms, common areas, and offices, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal. 
  • Conduct deep cleaning of high-traffic areas on a scheduled basis, including floors, furniture, and restrooms. 
  • Refill supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning products as needed. 

Landscaping 

  • Perform landscaping for the Girls Inc. Properties including lawn mowing, raking leaves, and overall external cleanliness.  

Facilities Maintenance 

  • Perform minor building maintenance and repairs such as changing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and assembling furniture or shelving. 
  • Conduct routine inspections of building systems and report larger issues to the Director of Facilities or maintenance vendors. As needed. 
  • Monitor cleanliness of entryways, grounds, and parking areas, and address or report safety concerns promptly. 

General Support 

  • Set up or break down program spaces and meeting rooms as needed for events or daily activities. As needed. 
  • Track inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies; communicate with supervisor when supplies need to be reordered. As needed. 
  • Lock up the building at the end of shift, ensuring all doors and windows are secure and alarm systems are properly activated. 
Work Schedule: 

This part-time position requires a 20-25 hour workweek, with flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend programming. During After-school Programming: primary working hours will be between Monday–Friday: 5:00 pm-9:30 pm. Training will be for 2-4 weeks training hours will be primarily Monday-Friday 9:00 am-2:00 pm  

Qualifications: 
  • At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Or completed 10th grade and actively working toward high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Previous experience in custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance work preferred. 
  • Basic knowledge of building systems and minor repair techniques. 
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, and climbing ladders. 
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and use cleaning and maintenance products responsibly. 
  • Friendly, professional demeanor with excellent verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Reliable and punctual with strong time management skills. 
  • Comfortable with basic data entry, email, and office equipment (copier, scanner, etc.). 
  • Must be able to pass a background check with fingerprinting (cost covered by applicant $30-$50).

Salary and Application Information: 

Job Type: Part-Time 
Pay Rate: $18-20/Hour dependent on experience
