Assistant Group Lead: After-School Program Facilitator

As an Assistant Group Lead, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, engaging after-school programming for participants in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Working closely with a Lead Facilitator or Program Specialist, you'll help bring our curriculum to life—providing consistent supervision, supporting a positive group environment, and guiding youth through hands-on activities that inspire confidence, curiosity, and connection. From crafting STEAM projects with elementary groups to leading meaningful discussions with teens, you’ll help ensure each participant feels seen, supported, and empowered every day.

Responsibilities: 

Include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare activity materials and support room setup prior to participant arrival.
  • Assist with daily routines including snack, transitions, and group facilitation.
  • Support classroom management and help maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Assist in facilitation of workshops within the group assigned and/or clubs assigned.
  • Assist in supervising and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for the after-school programs that follow and provide choices and opportunities for participants delivered by Program Specialists in areas of including, but not limited to, theater and arts; health and wellness; STEM; financial literacy.
  • Participating in walk-line for program pick up
  • Participating in dismissal with parent pick up
  • Distributing pre/post surveys as required by grants.
  • Other duties as assigned

Event & Transportation Responsibilities

  • Attend evening and weekend events as assigned to support programming.
  • Maintain reliable personal transportation for travel to program locations and events.

Physical Requirements

  • Walk up to one mile daily for participant pickup.
  • Safely lift and carry up to 25 lbs. for program setup and event materials.

Other Responsibilities

  • Report behavioral concerns and communicate with Directors/parents/guardians as needed.
  • Assisting in ensuring accurate attendance data entry for your club/classroom
Work Schedule: 

This part-time position requires a 20-hour workweek, with flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend programming.

Regular hours: During After-school Programming

Monday–Friday: 1:30 pm- 5:30 pm

Qualifications: 
  • At least 16 years old.
  • Currently enrolled in high school or equivalent.
  • Some experience volunteering or working with youth preferred- in supervised settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing youth programs preferred
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and maintaining accurate records
  • Mature, responsible, organized, with strong time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems and make improvements
  • Ability to be certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check with fingerprinting prior to hiring. Fingerprinting costs ($30–$50) are the responsibility of the applicant.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Pay Rate: $15-17/Hour dependent on experience
