The After-School Program Specialist plays a key role in supporting and enhancing the daily operations of Girls Inc. of Worcester’s after-school program. This position assists with the coordination and supervision of Program Facilitators, supports administrative and programmatic needs, and steps in to model or lead programming as needed. The Specialist ensures a high-quality, safe, and inclusive experience for all participants and helps maintain smooth program operations in collaboration with the Assistant Director of After-school.
Include but are not limited to:
- Foster a positive, equitable, accessible, and supportive environment for all participants.
- Assist with daily operations including staff oversight, scheduling support, program supply preparation, and data tracking.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for Program Facilitators; provide on-the-spot coaching and modeling of youth engagement best practices.
- Step in to lead or co-facilitate programming during staff absences or to demonstrate high-quality facilitation practices.
- Monitor and maintain program spaces and ensure materials are prepped, organized, and ready for daily use.
- Support distribution and collection of required documentation such as attendance records, incident reports, child enrollment forms, and grant-related surveys.
- Address behavior and participant needs using trauma-informed, restorative, and non-violent communication strategies.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians and caregivers as needed.
- Participate in “walk line” or other daily transitions, ensuring child safety during pick-up and drop-off routines.
- Assist with collaboration and communication between Program Facilitators, Assistant Director, and other departments.
- Cover front desk, provide supervision during transitions, and assist with late pick-ups when needed.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and required professional development sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all Girls Inc. policies and code of conduct.
- Other duties as assigned.
Event & Transportation Responsibilities
- Attend evening and weekend events as assigned to support programming.
- Maintain reliable personal transportation for travel to program locations and events.
Physical Requirements
- Walk up to one mile daily for participant pickup.
- Safely lift and carry up to 25 lbs. for program setup and event materials.
Other Responsibilities
- Support the development, adaptation, and implementation of afterschool curriculum in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Afterschool and program facilitators, ensuring activities align with Girls Inc. Headquarters program frameworks and participant needs.
- Communicating with and addressing behavior concerns with supervisors and filling out appropriate documentation
- Communicating with any parent/guardian concerns and questions promptly and appropriately.
- Ensure accurate attendance data entry for afterschool program(s)
This part-time position requires a 25-hour work week, with flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend programming. Regular hours: During Afterschool Programming
Monday–Friday: 12:30 pm- 5:30 pm
- At least 18 years old.
- Completed 10th grade and actively working toward high school diploma or equivalent.
- 6 months to 1 year of experience working with youth in group settings.
- Skilled in youth engagement, communication, and team collaboration.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing youth programs preferred
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and maintaining accurate records
- Mature, responsible, organized, with strong time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to solve problems and make improvements
- Ability to be certified in CPR and First Aid.
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check with fingerprinting prior to hiring. Fingerprinting costs ($30–$50) are the responsibility of the applicant.
- Bilingual preferred.

Pay Rate: $19-21.50/Hour dependent on experience
