Girls Inc. of Worcester is seeking an experienced Facilities & Operations Manager to provide strategic leadership for all facility operations, preventative maintenance, custodial services, landscaping, grounds keeping, vendor management, and capital improvement initiatives across all agency properties. This position supervises the Senior Facilities Specialist and Camp Caretaker while partnering closely with the Director of Finance & Operations to ensure safe, compliant, efficient, and welcoming facilities.
Facilities Leadership & Operations
- Oversee maintenance and operations of all Girls Inc. owned and leased properties, including Winthrop Street and Camp Kinneywood.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance plan for buildings, grounds, pool systems, and mechanical infrastructure.
- Ensure facilities are safe, clean, and program-ready for daily operations, rentals, special events, and community use.
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings and grounds to proactively identify and address repair needs.
- Maintain accurate facilities, inspection, and maintenance records.
- Oversee pool operations, including compliance with Certified Pool Operator (CPO) requirements and chemical safety protocols
EEC Compliance, Licensing & Safety
- Ensure facilities meet all Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) licensing requirements for school-age and summer programs.
- Coordinate and maintain all required inspections, permits, and certifications (building, fire, health, pool, etc.).
- Maintain documentation required for EEC monitoring visits and licensing reviews.
- Collaborate with program leadership to ensure indoor and outdoor environments meet EEC safety, accessibility, and ratio requirements.
- Develop, implement, and test emergency preparedness procedures (fire drills, lockdown drills, evacuation plans).
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and all local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Vendor & Project Management
- Coordinate vendor bidding processes and contract management in partnership with the Director of Finance & Operations.
- Supervise contractors and service providers, ensuring quality, safety, and cost efficiency.
- Oversee facilities-related capital improvement projects and long-term infrastructure planning.
- Serve as liaison for inspections, insurance site visits, and regulatory reviews.
Staff Supervision & Cross-Department Collaboration
- Supervise caretakers and maintenance staff at Camp Kinneywood and 125 Providence Street.
- Provide coaching, scheduling oversight, and performance management for facilities personnel.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure equipment and facility needs support high-quality programming.
- Partner with leadership on facilities planning for program expansion and special initiatives.
Event & Organizational Support
- Support agency-wide events, board meetings, ceremonies, and special initiatives requiring facilities oversight.
- Attend evening and weekend events as assigned to ensure building readiness and safety.
- Provide transportation support as needed (valid driver’s license required).
Data, Evaluation & Reporting
- Track capital project timelines, licensing/permitting documentation, and outcome data.
- Support reporting for funders, board presentations, and stakeholder communications in partnership with the Grants and Development teams.
- Use data to inform continuous program improvement and strategic decision-making.
Physical Requirements
- Walk up to three miles daily
- Safely lift and carry up to 75 lbs. for program setup and event materials.
- Ability to work in varied environments including basements, boiler rooms, rooftops, and outdoor conditions.
- Ability to work around pool systems and chemicals safely.
- Ability to climb ladders, use maintenance tools, and perform hands-on repair work.
- Other duties as assigned to support the team and organization.
This full-time position requires a 40-hour workweek, with flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend programming. Regular hours: Monday - Friday 9:30 am-6:00 pm
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate’s degree in facilities management, construction, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in facilities maintenance, building systems, or related trades.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license required (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Knowledge of EEC licensing regulations and school-age program facility requirements strongly preferred.
- Experience coordinating inspections, permits, and compliance documentation.
- Demonstrated experience supervising vendors and/or facilities staff.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and record-keeping.
- Ability to prioritize competing requests and respond to urgent facilities needs.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record required.
- Must maintain or obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable interacting with youth, families, partners, and funders.
- Must be able to pass a CORI/SORI background check with fingerprinting (cost covered by applicant $30-50) and maintain CPR & First Aid certification.
Full-Time, Exempt Salaried Position
Pay Range: $50,000-65,000 Annual Salary
