Art Therapy- Contracted Program Facilitator

Girls Inc. of Worcester is seeking a compassionate and creative Art Therapy Contractor to deliver trauma-informed, girl-centered art therapy services to youth participants during the academic school year. This role will support our mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold by integrating expressive arts into wellness programming that fosters emotional resilience, self-expression, and healing.

This is a stipend-based, independent contractor role totaling 100 hours of service across the school year. The contractor is expected to deliver small group or individual sessions and support occasional program-wide art wellness events.

Responsibilities: 

Scope of Work

  • Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive art therapy sessions for girls in grades K–12.
  • Provide direct services to individuals and small groups, with a focus on social-emotional development, trauma-informed care, and youth empowerment.
  • Collaborate with program staff to coordinate session schedules and integrate art therapy into broader wellness initiatives.
  • Maintain session notes and complete basic documentation for internal reporting.
  • Prepare materials and create a safe, welcoming environment for therapeutic art-making.
  • Participate in occasional family engagement events or organization-wide activities related to wellness.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of People & Culture regarding program impact, challenges, and needs.

Other Responsibilities

  • Communicating with and addressing behavior concerns with supervisors and filling out appropriate documentation  
  • Ensure accurate attendance data entry for your club/classroom

Work Schedule: 

Contract Details

  • Term: 100 total hours between September and June, flexible scheduling to be coordinated in advance.
  • During After-school Programming Monday–Friday: 2:30 pm-6 pm
Qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree or advanced standing in Art Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, or related field.
  • Registered or provisionally licensed art therapist (ATR or ATR-P) preferred.
  • Experience working with youth ages 5–18 in a therapeutic or school-based setting.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally competent practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass a background check with fingerprinting (cost covered by contractor).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and set up materials as needed.
Salary and Application Information: 

Compensation: Fixed stipend; contractor will be issued a 1099 form at year-end. Please include your going rate in application email.
