Release Date:
Thursday, May 7, 2009

For ninety-three years, Girls Incorporated of Worcester has provided a safe and enriching environment for thousands of children.  During the summer months, Girls Inc. is committed to providing inner-city youth, who cannot afford the cost of summer camp, the opportunity to attend our quality programs offered at Camp Kinneywood, our 110-acre outdoor camp located in Worcester near the Holden Reservoir, and at Winthrop House, our in-town facility located at 125 Providence Street.

In order to make these summer programs possible for some of the neediest children in Worcester, Girls Inc. holds an annual Girls Celebration at which we raise funds for Girls Inc.’s Summer Camp Scholarship Fund (through sponsorships, a program/ad book, silent auction, and Giving Tree) and honor local community leaders that truly exemplify Girls Incorporated’s mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.  The 2009 Girls Celebration will be held on Thursday, June 11th, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Winthrop House.  This year’s Honorees are The George F. and Sybil H. Fuller Foundation for whom we will dedicate our updated Aquatics Center, and Dr. Jean King and Linda Cavaioli, recipients of the 2009 Advocate for Girls Awards.

Please consider purchasing an ad in the 2009 Girls Celebration Program Book.  Your message will be circulated among hundreds of families, and your investment will help us provide an alternative to a summer on the streets for many children.  There is also an opportunity to contribute silent auction items; merchandise or gift certificates.  All profits from the Girls Celebration will go directly to Girls Inc.’s Summer 2009 Camp Scholarship Fund.

Please consider one of the following sponsorship options on the form at the bottom of this page.  With your support, we will provide camp scholarships this summer for children who otherwise will not have this important experience.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Anne McCarthy at 508-755-6455 x41.  Your consideration of this request is greatly appreciated.
