Tamara Nowak

Tamara Nowak is the Director of Market Development at Unum.  She co-leads both the Boston MA & Portland ME sales offices where she is accountable for driving profitable new sales as well as growth through client management. She manages an integrated team of sales representatives, client managers, marketing consultants, and field coordinators and is instrumental in attracting and developing a diverse talent pool, as well as training and performance management.  She understands markets, customers, and legislation and leverages that knowledge to build strong and productive relationships throughout the Northeast with brokers, clients, and partners.  She is responsible for positioning the offices for long term success through local investments and a focus on the client experience. 

Tamara received her Bachelor’s Degree from Worcester State University in Computer Science and Business Administration & Management.  She received her MBA from Nichols College.  She is a black belt in Lean Six Sigma and a Project Management Professional (PMP) with a history of leading behavior and cultural change through coaching and process improvements.

Beyond her professional responsibilities at Unum, Tamara is a wife and mom of two beautiful girls.  She has been deeply involved in her local communities in Central and Eastern Massachusetts through positions on several boards, mentoring local leaders, and participating in many volunteer activities.  She is committed to helping women balance successful careers and motherhood.  She is the cofounder of the Young Professional Women’s Association and a recipient of Worcester’s 40 Under Forty.  She is also a Girls, Inc. alum and a recipient of the Outstanding Alumna Award.
