Our Mission

Girls Inc. of Worcester inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. We put our mission into practice through The Girls Inc. Experience, which equips girls to navigate gender, economic and social barriers and grow into healthy, educated and independent adults.

A Century of Empowering Girls

Girls Inc. of Worcester began changing the lives of girls and young women 100 years ago in 1916. The Worcester Girls Club was formed by a small and dedicated group of community members with a purpose to give ethical, educational and social advantages to girls of lower incomes families.

As we proudly celebrated a century of growth and services in 2016, we continue to meet the ever-changing needs of girls. We reach more than 1,400 girls each year on site at our Providence Street facility and our Camp Kinneywood lakefront summer camp, in the schools and on college campuses, and through our community partners. Learn how Girls Inc. has evolved over the last 100 years...

Diversity and Inclusion

GIW is committed to empowering girls by affirming the positive benefits of diversity to our organization and to the larger world. We embrace diverse identities—including but not limited to characteristics such as national origin, race, color, disability, ethnicity, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender and gender identity, socioeconomic status, veteran status, educational background, family structures, class, ability, language, political affiliation, and geographic residence—in our members, volunteers, staff, and board members. We promote a culturally responsive environment that encourages inclusion, communal understanding and mutual respect. We recognize and value the diversity of the community that we serve and strive to mirror that diversity in the structures of our organization. In actively affirming principles of inclusivity, we make our organization welcoming and accessible to all girls and promote a communal sense of justice and equitable practices that helps to make Girls Inc. a valuable community asset.
