Special Program Manager

Provides overall management and supervision for Summer Camp, Vacation weeks and Enrichments. This includes supervising staff, implementing a framework of quality programs, adhering and enforcing policies and procedures. The Special Program Manager ensures that participants have access to positive and healthy learning opportunities during after-school program hours. The position works closely with the After-School Program Manager to effectively promote and enhance Girls Inc.’s mission.

Responsibilities: 
  • Work with After school Manager and assist in overseeing the after-school staff.
  • Able to work with kids ages 5 to 18 years old.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a positive, equitable, accessible, safe and supportive environment for girls, which supports individual choice and foster independence
  • Plan, supervise, and implement curriculum developmentally appropriate activities for Summer Camp that follow and provide choices and opportunities for participants including but not limited to art, fitness, nutrition, and STEM based on the mission of Girls Inc. and needs of participants including assisting the After-school Program Manager with curriculum prepping.
  • Oversees licensing requirements for Summer Camp, developing a comprehensive training schedule, and maintaining required documentation.
  • Provide timely reports and data for program evaluation, oversees programmatic delivery of grant requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision, development, recruitment, hiring, firing and evaluating Summer Camp program staff.
  • Provide supervision to interns, program volunteers, and mentors in collaboration with director of volunteers.
  • Communicates with parents pertaining child’s progress, challenges, discipline issues and activities within the program.
  • Alerts Director of Programs with concerns regarding the health, safety, or behavior of a child or staff.
  • Other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: 

 This is a full time, exempt position. There will be space for this position in the offices of Girls Inc. at 125 Providence St. Worcester, MA 01604.

 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 9am- 5:30pm

Tuesdays and Thursdays 11am-7pm

*Holiday and school closings may require more time as outlined by the approved Worcester Public Schools calendar

Qualifications: 
  • At least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Valid State-Issued I.D.
  • High School graduate, General Education Development (GED) or equivalent
  • Ability to be certified in CPR and First Aid
  • Associate degree, with courses in education, recreation, psychology, or related field; or 2-4 years of experience working with youth preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing youth programs
  • Mature, responsible, organized, with strong time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to problem. solve and make improvements
  • Experience in supervision and management of a diverse work force;
  • Ability to analyze, organize, plan, delegate and manage with multiple programs and staffs;
  • Understand the importance of youth development and other necessary elements related to building a quality Summer camp and out of school time program; as well as familiarity with the advantages of single gender programs;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with people individually and present to larger groups; and to interface with families, community organizations, businesses and workplaces in the Greater Worcester area;
  • Ability to work as a team player with Girls Inc. staff and community agencies;
  • Working knowledge of technology;
  • Flexibility in hours – requires some evening and weekend hours and travel;
  • Adhere to confidentiality policies and conduct appropriate for a representative for all Girls Inc.;
  • Must have a car and excellent driving record.
  • Bilingual a plus

Salary and Application Information: Job Type: Full-Time, Benefit Eligible. Salary range: $44,000-$55,000 annually. Vacation- 2 weeks annually.
