CEVs

August 5, 2010 - 9:40am -- leadacademy

On August 4 the Goddard Girls went to the stem lab to do an activity. Once we were there, we went over what a  CEV is. A CEV is a crew exploration vehicle. The adults handed out packets that guided us to make a model of a CEV. There were requirements, like tanks of oxygen, water and food. They split us up into groups and were sent off to design our CEV. We first had to draw the vehicle and plan where we are going to put everything. After the group completed that task, they were able  to start on the real model. There were a variety of materials there for all of us to use. My group used a Tide to Go For our main body of the ship. Then we used bottles for the rocket boosters and fuel tank. After the exterior was done, we started on the interior. We cut out cardboard to make the beds, lab and seats. Our interior was easier to make than the exterior. My group was finally done, after putting the finishing touches, like post-it notes for the solar panels and our names signed onto the ship. We presented our projects to everyone and headed towards the bus to finish off the day.
