Grant Writer & Manager

The grant manager will play a critical role in securing the funding needed to serve the girls in our community by offering more than 50% of our programs for free! The successful candidate will be skilled in persuasive writing, has excellent organization skills, is a self-starter and will have grant writing experience.

The grant writer will be an integral part of the Girls Inc. of Worcester team collaborating with marketing and program staff to understanding funding needs, write compelling proposals and attain appropriate data for reporting.

The grant writer will be a member of the fund development and marketing team reporting directly to the Director of Development.

Responsibilities: 
  • The Grant Manager will oversee a diverse portfolio of 70+ corporate and foundation grants.
  • Manage the grant process to include research, preparing and submitting proposals, report requirements, funder site visit requests and stewardship. Must work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to create an annual grant strategy.
  • Provide stewardship and appropriate acknowledgement of funders
  • Review grant contracts and requirements and ensure that all requirements including public acknowledgements are met, collaborate with business office and program team.
  • Work closely with business office to create project budgets and financial reports
  • Keep record of all grants specific donations and maintain up-to-date constituent data in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Proactively prospect for new grant opportunities based on institutional priorities. Experience with Instrumental is a plus.
  • Work closely with partner agencies in coordinating fundraising efforts, creating letters of support, and keeping records of all collaborative activities
  • Write press releases, nominations, and other advancement and marketing related communications
  • As part of the fund development team complete support departmental efforts, such as special events
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3 to 5 years of experience writing and managing grants
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management skills and the capability to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills to work collaboratively with members of the Girls Inc. team
  • Works with a positive attitude and sense of urgency
  • Thrives in a mission driven environment
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Instrumental is desired
