Position Title: Summer Camp Aquatics Director
Reports to: Program Director
Position Status: Part-Time, Non-exempt
Summary of Position:
Under the supervision of the Director of Programs, the Aquatics Director is responsible for general safety and management of the Girls Inc. of Aquatics program. The Aquatics Director ensures that participants have access to positive and healthy learning opportunities during program hours.
Essential Program responsibilities:
Assist in overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of all aquatics program and activities.
Assist in preparing and maintaining aquatics program materials and spaces, including testing of pool chemical levels.
Assist in implementing and facilitating aquatics curriculum.
Assist in supervision and in service training of aquatics support staff and volunteers during program hours, including delegation of tasks.
Assist in designing and implementing Emergency Action Plans in case of aquatics emergencies.
Maintaining strong communication with Director of Facilities regarding pool maintenance.
Provide timely reports and information to the Director of Programs regarding the aquatics program.
Update aquatics attendance and program check lists.
Assist in planning and designing aquatics program curricula.
Immediately alert the Director of Programs (or CEO or Associate Director of Programs, in the absence of the Director of Programs) to any concerns regarding the health, safety, or behavior of a child.
Immediately alert the Director of Facilities (or CEO, in the absence of the Director of Facilities) to any concerns regarding aquatics facilities.
Assist in developing and maintaining a positive, equitable, accessible, safe and supportive environment for girls, which support individual choice and foster independence.
Assist in maintaining and promoting physical, emotional, and verbal safety of all participants.
Represent Girls Inc. of Worcester in the community, upon the request of Director of Programs or CEO.
Maintain accurate and up to date records of all staff aquatic certifications.
Provide coverage for other program staff, if necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instructor, First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
Associate degree, with courses in education, recreation, psychology, or related field; or 2-4 years of experience working with youth.
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing youth programs.
Knowledge of Girls Inc. of Worcester programs or willingness to learn.
Adhere to confidentiality policies and conduct appropriate for a representative of Girls Inc.
Organizational skills with attention to detail and maintaining accurate records.
Mature, responsible, organized, with strong time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with and leading staff and/or volunteers.
Knowledge of the content and philosophy behind Girls Inc.’s programs; willingness to learn from Girls Inc. National trainings and publications.
Ability to problem solve and make improvements.
Must be able to pass physical components of American Red Cross Lifeguarding requirements, including ability to lift 25 pounds on occasion.

Knowledge of child development and the necessary elements to build a quality after school program, as well as familiarity with the advantages of single gender programs.
The ability to work as a team player with Girls Inc. of Worcester staff and volunteers.
The ability to listen and take direction well.
Current driver’s license and safe driving record.
